Germany: Port of Kiel Gets Container Wayport Status

The Port of Kiel has gained container wayport status by being added to the liner service network of Gothenburg-based shipping company TransAtlantic.

CONTAINER traffic through France's main port of Le Havre posted a decline of six per cent to 2.2 million TEU, owing to a 28 per cent fall in transshipment volume.

THE Port of Antwerp posted a two per cent increase in 2011 container volume to 8.6 million TEU hitting an all time high, say port authorities.

On 23 January 2012 arrived at the container terminals Sech largest ever entry into port. This is the "Humber Bridge", a ship of nearly 100 000 tons gross tonnage, 336 meters long 45,8 meters wide, which has docked successfully at quay Calata Sanità.

The first container vessel to call at Rize Port was the Esra A, operated by Arkas Line, and Arkas Shipping was the first company to bring container service to this location.
Port of Sept-Îles joined the Green Award scheme

The Port of Sept-Îles will award a reduction on port dues to sea-going vessels certified by the Green Award Foundation effective from the 1st of January 2012.
With this decision the port of Sept-Îles, which aims at minimizing adverse environmental impacts and reducing environmental risk, affirms its commitment to the principles of its environmental policy.
